French Polynesian cargo cruise line Aranui Cruises has discounted a handful of 2023 voyages, slashing thousands off Aranui 5 cruises.
Available until sold out, Aranui Cruises is taking 30 per cent off Marquesas Islands voyages 13, 14, 15 and 16 departing in July and August 2023, with discounted staterooms priced from $5596* per person twin share, a saving of more than $2000. As part of the sale, children (aged 3-17) can also travel for a set price of $1982 in any cabin with their family.
The discount is available on Aranui’s regular 12-day roundtrip voyage from Papeete to the Marquesas Islands on 125-metre mixed freight and passenger vessel Aranui 5, which offers one of the few remaining cargo cruise experiences in the world.
While the ship’s crew unload freight at the six inhabited Marquesas Islands – Hiva Oa, Nuku Hiva, Ua Pou, Ua Huka, Tahuata and Fatu Hiva – guests disembark and explore the remote island communities on a range of complimentary excursions including hikes, 4WD tours, local feasts and visits to archaeological sites. The itinerary also features two idyllic Tuamotu ports including Rangiroa as well as alternating visits to Kauehi and Makatea.
Aranui has been regularly undertaking the 3800-kilometre roundtrip voyage to the isolated islands for almost 40 years, acting as a vital lifeline for the Marquesan people who occupy the northernmost of French Polynesia’s five archipelagoes located some 5000km from the nearest continental land mass. As remote as they are, these islands have long been luring explorers, artists and authors such as Paul Gauguin and Robert Louis Stevenson to their exotic and mystical shores.
Aranui Cruises is also offering a 20 per cent discount on its 12-day Austral Islands cruise, departing Papeete on September 9, 2023. The special voyage includes calls to five Austral islands – Tubuai, Rurutu, Rimatara, Rapa Iti (the little sister of Rapa Nui – Easter Island), and Raivavae, known as the Bora Bora of the south – plus a bonus visit to the original Bora Bora en route back to Papeete. With the 20 per cent discount, staterooms are priced from A$7292* per person twin share, savings of more than $1600.
With local crew, cuisine and culture, Aranui 5 is the most authentic way to explore French Polynesia. An Aranui 5 cruise includes thousands of dollars’ worth of shore excursions such as hikes, visits to archaeological sites and local feasts, a weekly laundry service, three meals per day and complimentary French wine with onboard lunches and dinners.
Aranui 5 features a restaurant, conference rooms, lounges, a library, a boutique, a swimming pool, a gym, a spa, the first tattoo studio at sea and bars including the panoramic Sky bar and popular Veranda bar.
