The forthcoming star of the seas, Carnival Cruise Line’s “Carnival Jubilee,” signalled a significant phase in its construction, emerging majestically from the cloistered building dock at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Making an impressive debut, the vessel flaunted a Texas star on its bow, emphasizing the cruise line’s strong ties to the Port of Galveston.
Carnival Cruise Line’s President, Christine Duffy, expressed her anticipation about the ship’s unveiling, proclaiming the Texas star as a tribute to the company’s enduring association with Galveston. Being the inaugural cruise line to navigate all year round from the port, Carnival has been a part of Galveston’s community fabric. Duffy said, “Our latest addition is testament to our support of the local economy’s robust growth, all the while promising our guests groundbreaking experiences.”
The Carnival Jubilee’s unveiling drew hundreds of spectators to an authentic Texas tailgate-style party at the shipyard, accompanied by a smorgasbord of snacks and beverages courtesy of Carnival’s partner, PepsiCo.
Following its inaugural float out, Carnival Jubilee will embark on its next construction phase alongside the outfitting pier of the shipyard. Scheduled for sea trials in November, the ship will conduct multiple tests over the weekend, including checks on bow thrusters and stabilizers.
The ship is the newest addition to Carnival’s revolutionary Excel class, set to awe guests with the same innovative features as her sister ships, the Mardi Gras and the Carnival Celebration. The Carnival Jubilee will boast six thrilling zones, two distinct on the boat, inspired by the mesmerizing ocean. These zones will offer a plethora of dining, beverage, and entertainment options, promising a diverse range of experiences for guests.
The Carnival Jubilee will commence year-round sailing on Western Caribbean itineraries in late December. However, she’s not the first of her name to sail from Galveston. In a nostalgic nod to the past, the Carnival Jubilee shares its name with a classic Carnival ship that first set sail from Galveston in 2002. Dwarfing her predecessor in size, the new Carnival Jubilee pledges quadruple the fun for guests to relish.
