Leading astronomer Dr Rebecca Allen, Co-Director Space Technology and Industry Institute, Swinburne University of Technology, joined guests onboard for the spectacular event.
“Today, Australia experienced a remarkable solar eclipse. Those lucky enough to be at sea near the Ningaloo Reef, or on land at North West Cape and Exmouth, experienced totality which is when the Moon fully blocks the Sun, while a significant portion of the country was exposed to a partial eclipse,” said Dr Allen.
Over the course of the sold-out five-night cruise, guests have had access to professional astronomers from the Astronomical Society of Australia who provided lectures, Q&A sessions, and networking events on eclipse and astronomy basics, cutting-edge astronomical research in Australia.
“In our 90th year of operation, P&O Cruises Australia is continuing to deliver innovative, new itineraries and experiences for guests,” said Ms. Fitzgerald.
“This cruise alone has attracted people from across the world to witness this rare phenomenon, and we thank our partners at the Astronomical Society of Australia, as well as Dr Rebecca Allen for making this a truly remarkable and educational experience for all involved”.
