MSC Cruises is set to enhance its presence in the North American market with the deployment of its glamorous ship, MSC Meraviglia, in New York for year-round cruises to Bermuda, the Caribbean, New England, and Canada from April 2023. This marks the first time MSC Cruises will operate year-round sailings from New York, offering a variety of itineraries ranging from 6 to 11 nights. The MSC Meraviglia’s deployment will give guests the opportunity to explore the vibrant city of New York either before or after their cruise, with stay and cruise packages available for up to a three-night stay, a 5-hour tour of Manhattan, and transfers to the ship.
Lisa Teiotu, Commercial Director MSC Cruises, says that New York is one of the most incredible and vibrant destinations in the world, and the itineraries are expected to have a very strong appeal for the market, given the range of flights to and from New York. The MSC Meraviglia offers a wide variety of itineraries, and guests can choose to soak up the sun in the Caribbean during the spring and winter seasons, head to Bermuda during summer or go north to see the stunning autumn colours of Canada.
The MSC Meraviglia is 315 meters long, 65 meters tall, and has an impressive 19 decks, with a capacity of up to 5,700 guests, making it a holiday destination in its own right. It is packed with innovative features that provide an unforgettable experience, including 10 different types of cabins to choose from, including solo cabins, popular balcony cabins, and stylish accommodations in the MSC Yacht Club. The latter is the premium ‘ship within a ship’ featuring butler service, along with exclusive restaurant, lounge, and pool areas.
The ship also boasts the Galleria Meraviglia, a promenade lined with shops, restaurants, and bars that stretches more than 90 meters and is lined with an impressive LED sky screen. There are 20 bars and 12 restaurants, including the popular Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi and Teppanyaki. The indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, water park, and ropes course provide guests with a variety of activities to enjoy onboard.
In addition, there are different theatrical extravaganzas in the 985-seat theatre, and the extensive MSC Aurea Spa provides massage therapy, body treatments, facial treatments, and a dedicated thermal area. There is also a 557 square-meter gym featuring state-of-the-art equipment from Technogym™, and the MSC Kids’ Club for children from 0-17 years old, with dedicated areas for babies, toddlers, children, and teenagers, plus the Lego® Experience.
MSC Meraviglia is fitted with innovative technology and solutions to minimize her environmental footprint, including an exhaust gas cleaning system for cleaner emissions, an advanced wastewater treatment system, smart heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to recover heat from machinery spaces, and LED lighting and smart devices to significantly save energy. This is part of MSC Cruises’ commitment to provide its guests with the best holiday experiences at sea in a sustainable manner.
Many of the cruises from New York will visit Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the line’s stunning private island destination in The Bahamas, which is the centrepiece of a breathtaking near 17,000-hectare marine reserve designed to connect guests with nature. The island offers white sandy beaches where chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas await guests for a relaxing day of soaking up the spirit of The Bahamas while surrounded by sweeping panoramas of crystal blue waters
