Australians can discover the wilds of Scotland on one of the world’s smallest luxury cruise ships next year and then visit some of England’s grandest castles and estates on an overland tour as part of an exclusive, new package released by Australian small ship cruising specialist, Cruise Traveller, in conjunction with new partner, Hebridean Island Cruises.

There are savings of A$1540 per couple and A$1045 for solo travellers for bookings with Cruise Traveller by August 31, 2023.

Cruise Traveller last month became the exclusive Australian agent for UK-based Hebridean Island Cruises. The boutique cruise brand specialises in all-inclusive, small-shop journeys that spotlight the rugged isles, lochs, castles and quaint storybook villages of Scotland and the pristine Hebrides Islands off the coast. Akin to stylish country houses on water, the line’s two vessels celebrate the gentle pleasures of cruising with an ambience of relaxed elegance, luxurious décor, maritime tradition, personal service and shared conviviality., echoing the line’s philosophy that ‘small is personal’.

Cruise Traveller’s new 23-night ‘Secret Scotland and Enchanting England’ package in April, 2024, combines a seven-night cruise through Scotland, stays in Edinburgh and Glasgow and a nine-tour overland tour of England during spring.

The holiday begins on April 15, 2024, with a night’s stay in Glasgow, Scotland, followed by a seven-night, round-trip voyage aboard the 48-guest Hebridean Princess from Oban in Scotland, taking in the rugged islands of the Hebrides and the remote coastal villages, wild scenery, abundant wildlife and colourful Gaelic culture of northern Scotland’s more remote regions. Shore tours and onboard beverages are included in the cruise.

After the cruise, guests will spend two nights in Glasgow before catching a train to Edinburgh for a three-night stay, with free time to explore both cities before joining an escorted, nine-night, small-group coach tour from Edinburgh to London through some of England’s prettiest scenery. The tour includes a visit to Alnwick Castle, which dates back to the 11th Century and is the second largest inhabited castle in the UK. The castle featured as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies and as Downton Abbey in the hit TV show as well as films including ‘Elizabeth’ and ‘Robin Hood Prince of Thieves’.

The tour also takes in the North York Moors, cosy, centuries-old pubs, the classic seaside resort of Whitby, the medieval city of York, the grand manor of Chatsworth House, which starred in the film, Pride and Prejudice, the picturesque Peak District and Lincoln Castle, built in the 11th Century by William the Conqueror and home to the original Magna Carta.  Also on the itinerary is Sandringham Estate – still the stately country retreat for the Royal Family – and Cambridge where guests will enjoy a graceful ride on the famous river punts. A night in London ends the north-to-south UK holiday.
