From Ancient Egypt to The Canals of Venice Aboard a Majestic Sailing Ship

The beauty, grace and freedom of journeying across the blue Mediterranean aboard an authentic and majestic sailing ship is a special joy in the world of cruising and to help Australians share that unique magic, Australian small ship specialist, Cruise Traveller, has released a new fly/cruise package that features not one but three voyages aboard the renowned clipper ship, Star Clipper.

The 30-night, northern summer package in June, 2024, will see lovers of tradition, luxury and nautical romance sail from Egypt to Italy, visiting a host of sun-kissed islands and enchanting, medieval villages along the way. Adding to the allure, Cruise Traveller is offering earlybird savings of A$3835 per person, twin-share, and A$4823 for solo travellers, for bookings made by May 30, 2023.

Cruise Traveller’s new ‘From Pharaoh Lands to Floating City’ fly, cruise and stay package boasts a 29-night cruise from Safaga in Egypt to Venice in Italy aboard the 115m-long Star Clipper, which is a combination of three, back-to-back cruises, enabling Australians to make the most of their time in Europe.

The destination-rich adventure begins on June 16, 2024, with a flight from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth to Cairo for a night’s stay in a hotel followed by a flight next day to Safaga on Egypt’s Red Sea coast to board the 166-guest Star Clipper for a 29-night summer’s voyage through the Suez Canal, to the islands of Greece and to coastal destinations and isles sprinkled along the Adriatic in Croatia.

The journey – as much of it by sail as possible – comprises three back-to-back cruises taking in 21 destinations, including ports in Egypt for trips inland to ancient temples and structures built by Pharaohs and a string of idyllic Greek islands starting with Rhodes – the sunniest place in Europe with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year. Star Clipper will also set course for the beaches, tavernas and whitewashed buildings of Santorini, Mykonos, Milos, Hydra, Patmos, Amorgos, Corfu and lesser-known Spetses and Monemvasia. Athens, the medieval port of Kotor in Montenegro and Kusadasi in Turkey near the famous ruins of Ephesus feature on the itinerary as well as a host of Croatian destinations along the beautiful Dalmatian Coast including the walled city of Dubrovnik and the islands of Cres, Korcula and Hvar.

The cruise ends in Venice where guests will fly home to Australia.

Reflecting the heritage of the golden era of sailing ships, the graceful, four-masted Star Clipper melds the luxuries of today with the traditions of the past, with its giant, billowing sails, gleaming mahogany, polished brasswork, sweeping teak decks, two pools, restaurant, chill-time bars, Edwardian library, gourmet cuisine, friendly crew and an onboard ambience that is relaxed, casually elegant and free of crowds or queues.

Including return flight to Europe, a flight and hotel stay in Egypt and the 29-night cruise, the 30-night ‘From Pharaoh Lands to Floating City’ package is available from A$15,995 per person, twin-share, in an Inside Cabin – a saving of A$3835. Solo traveller fares are now also priced from A$20,825 in an Inside Cabin – a saving of A$4823. Book by May 30, 2023.
